ORLANDO is an international queer festival of cinema, dance, theater and meetings.

By bringing to Bergamo valuable artistic experiences, the festival transforms the city into a meeting space in which to overcome the frontiers of stereotypes and broaden the horizon of possibilities. Films, performances, exhibitions and workshops make up the rich program of the event that is developed on a network of relationships, cultural exchanges and national and international partnerships. The project takes its name from the novel of the same name by Virginia Woolf and is a concrete example of how differences (be they cultural, gender, geographical origin or affective orientation) are indispensable for the constitution of a cultural identity plural, alive and in constant transformation.

This 2023 edition will be a special edition, a schedule spanning four months, with a main core from 30th April to 7 May, marking the closing of a cycle and the opening of a window on the most current topics of discussion and the most contemporary art.

Performances, films, meetings, quality territorial projects that will run through the city of Bergamo, also reaching out to Brescia and the two provinces, with activities that fall within the broader framework of Bergamo and Brescia Italian Capital of Culture.

Italian, European (Switzerland, Lithuania, Germany) and non-European (South Korea) projects, with more than 30 guest artists and national premieres, will be hosted to reflect on the importance of expanding accessibility to culture, on the relationship of dynamic balances that our ecosystem interspecies requires, on the need to practice alliances to seek greater spaces of freedom for all.
