TRAIETTORIE - Contemporary Music Festival

The international festival of modern and contemporary music Traiettorie was founded in 1991 by the non-profit organisation Fondazione Prometeo and it takes place in Parma every year. In more than 300 concerts, Traiettorie has hosted the most important international ensembles and soloists and it has become one of the leading festivals of contemporary music in Italy.

The festival's artistic project has always pursued the promotion of recent repertoire, with particular attention to electroacoustic and electronic music, developing also a substantial activity of premières and commissions to young composers.

At the same time, Traiettorie has once again set itself the task of keeping classics of 20th-century music alive on the Italian music scene and of presenting them for fresh discussion for today’s generation of listeners.

For the merits acquired in the diffusion of contemporary language during the first twenty editions, Traiettorie received in 2010 the prestigious “Franco Abbiati” award, granted by the Italian Music Critics Association.

TRAIETTORIE 2023

In 2023 the program will focus on the modern musical culture of central Europe and that of the immediately eastern areas, such as Hungary and Poland, which right at the beginning of the twentieth century began to show the originality of languages exploiting the national popular cultures, and then joined the European musical dialectic with a new energy reinvigorated by the comparison with the Austrian and German musical schools that arose from the crisis of Romanticism, strongly enriching the musical history of the post-war period.
The substantial presence in this year's programs of Ligeti, Kurtág, and Bartók should be interpreted in this direction, alongside the great Austro-German intellectual line that from Beethoven and Schumann passes through the second Viennese school and arrives in Stockhausen, all abundantly represented in this edition.

The festival will host renowned ensembles and soloists such as Neue Vocalsolisten, Minguet Quartett, Accroche Note, Ensemble Recherche, Garth Knox, Florent Boffard and many others.
