Portugal National Day
Portuguese know how to honour their artists. Indeed, their national day, 10 of June, celebrates the memory of Luís de Camões, a Portuguese poet from the Renaissance who died in 1580. On this occasion, let’s take a look at some classical music festivals that will take place in Portugal in 2022.
Estoril Lisbon festival
24 June - 16 December 2022
Since 1975, Estoril Lisbon Festival showcases very prestigious names of classical music as much as it contributes to the diffusion of new values and recent creations. This committed stance has been manifested through more than three hundred works presented for the first time in Portugal, many of which in world premieres, including orchestras, chamber ensembles, choirs, and soloists, ranging from early and traditional music to dance. The festival highlights the relationship between the rich architectural and musical heritage as the performances take place in historic churches, theatres, and auditoriums.

Terras sem Sombra
02 April - 22 October 2022
Terras sem Sombra Festival promotes the Alentejo territory through three key dimensions of its memory: song, patrimony, and biodiversity. As the organisers have their heart set on decentralising the cultural and artistic offer in low-density territories, the festival is itinerant. The programme includes concerts of classical music, master classes, conferences, visits to cultural heritage and actions to safeguard biodiversity, all of which are free of charge. Festivities started on 2 April and will run until 22 October!

Cistermúsica - Alcobaça Music Festival

For more than 25 years now, Cistermúsica Festival gather cultural heritage and novelties from young music talents. It explores with great intelligence and success the boundaries of tradition, perfectly applying its motto “A classic for all!”. The “Junior and Families” section promotes the formation of new audiences, raising their awareness of the study, enjoyment and appreciation of the arts. The “Outros Mundos” programme favors the intersection of music with other artistic expressions. People of all age will definitely enjoy their time at Cistermúsica Festival for sure!

Marvão Internacional Music Festival

Panorama lovers, here is your perfect programme. Imagine you are at the summit of the highest mountain south of the Tagus, in the walled town of Marvão. The peaceful horizon and the magical atmosphere are exalted with classical music played by talented performers from all sides of the world.
