Hauptsache Frei #9

Hauptsache Frei is the festival of Hamburg's independent performing arts. Founded in 2015, the festival provides a platform for the artists of Hamburg's independent scene year after year and invites professionals from the scene from all over Germany to Hamburg for exchange and networking. Over two weeks, the festival becomes a platform for artistic productions, contemporary trends, aesthetic innovations, socio-political discourses and academic impulses. Hauptsache Frei is supported by the Bündnis für Festivals der Freien Tanz- und Theaterschaffenden Hamburgs e.V., a supporting association consisting of various institutions - venues but also interest groups such as the DfdK Hamburg e.V. - in the city.

The festival Hauptsache Frei is a member of the FESTIVALFRIENDS association, a federation of regional festivals of the independent performing arts in Germany. FESTIVALFRIENDS is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media through the programme "Promoting Connections" of the Federal Association of the Liberal Performing Arts.
